Japanese Kampfhörspiele was founded in 1998 by Christof Kather and Klaus Nicodem and was initially a two-man project with home recordings before developing into a full live band. The band broke up in 2011 after a farewell concert in Munich, but has been active again since 2014 and continues to release music and play live shows. Musical style and lyrics Musically, JaKa moves between grindcore, death metal, and punk, with many tempo changes, breaks, and very short, intense songs. Lyrically, they often use collage-like, fragmented sentences that comment sarcastically and critically on consumer society, everyday abysses, and media culture.
