Meet HAVEN, the secret stars of Berlin’s post-metal underground! After two EPs and shows with Amenra, Hexis and Esben And The Witch, among others, the band will present their eagerly awaited debut album ‘Causes’ on 24 January via Argonauta Records. It was recorded, produced and mastered at Sonic Boom Studios in Berlin.

Thematically, HAVEN dig deep: What are the causes and consequences of our actions, our being? ‘Causes’ explores the question of how self-determined we really are with all our imprints, experiences and fears. ‘It’s also about recognising the all-encompassing cycle of things,’ explains frontman Norman Siegel. ‘At the end of it, there is – hopefully – a light-filled view of life.’ He strives for a catharsis – this is not only conveyed in the lyrics, it is also reflected in the music. ‘Causes’ oscillates between brute outbursts of brute force and phases of calm and is thus completely modelled on the human emotional world in its dynamics. The human emotional world. Ultimately, everything is interconnected and constantly changing – in the words of the band: ‘All will take from all, and all will flow back into all.’
To coincide with the release, HAVEN will be playing two exclusive album release shows in Hanover and Berlin, where ‘Causes’ will be presented live for the first time. It’s no coincidence that the band has a reputation as a first-class live act – they convey their music on stage at least as emotionally and energetically as on record! HAVEN will be supported by Berlin doom metal band Death Cult 69 (who are releasing their new album ‘The Way Of All Flesh’ on the same day) and Leipzig death metal hopefuls Chaver. Don’t miss it!
