Bob Wayne and Munly J Munly

With Munly J Munly and Bob Wayne, two heavyweights of alternative country will be touring old Europe in autumn 2025 to present their musically grandiose framed milieu studies of broken societies on selected stages. We are delighted that they will also be making a detour to Dresden.
After giving truly brilliant performances in the city over the last two years with both Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and his own band, Munly J. Munly now returns solo to tell old and new stories from the fictional society of Lupercalia. Munly, who taught himself to play the banjo at a young age while recovering from an ice hockey accident, has become a true virtuoso on his instrument. He lives and works as a singer/songwriter in Denver, Colorado, where he played an important role in the development of the ‘Denver Sound’, a mix of country, gothic and gospel styles. He is one of the formative figures in Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and the Denver Broncos UK (DBUK), but also tours solo or with his own band Munly and the Lupercaliens. He is one of the defining figures in Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and the Denver Broncos UK (DBUK), but also tours solo or with his own band Munly and the Lupercaliens. He is also a freelance author who has already been honoured with the Southern Heritage Award. His stories and his music are always dedicated to human contradictions and bigoted endeavours in a supposedly ideal world, in which themes such as religion, violence and dysfunctional relationships, which are often interwoven, play an important role. The accompanying soundscape of alternative country and gothic Americana and his captivating stage presence make his concerts a deeply emotional experience.

Bob Wayne is also no stranger to the city, having last performed at the Chemiefabrik in 2020. He makes raw, profound, ‘pure country’ music that always wanders between comedy and gritty truths. He never tries to be something he’s not and consequently makes sure that everything he does is genuine, eschewing any affectation. With a vocal style often reminiscent of artists such as the late Johnny Cash and a songwriting style that has been compared to Kris Kristofferson, Bob brings a neo-Cash vibe that is much needed in the current revival of authentic country music and works just as well on big stages such as the Wacken Open Air as it does in the small rocker pub in the Finnish pampas. ER tours solo and with a band all year round and doesn’t even stop at the most remote corners of the country.
