Punishable Act – The ultimate veteran of the German hardcore scene is waiting in the wings. The band around frontman Mike Göde looks back on 25 years of band history and has its roots in East Berlin in the 1980s, where it started out under the name Reasors Exzesz with a mix of street punk, thrash metal and rockabilly – at a time when the decision to play such music was still a subversive, biographically formative act. In the award-winning documentary ‘Too much Future’, Göde talks about this time as well as his still authentic understanding of working class – he is still a scaffolder off stage.
They have been on the road as a punishable act since 1993, tirelessly and at times worldwide, with guest appearances in South-East Asia and the USA as evidence of this. But their real home is the clubs and youth centres of this country, which hardly any other band has played so extensively and comprehensively. And live they were and are a force to be reckoned with, proving to all those who divide the hardcore scene into old school and new school that only the comprehensive school really rocks.
